====== Colonias Qwest Microwave Station ====== Colonias is a former Qwest (formerly US West, later CenturyLink) microwave repeater on a low mesa northwest of Santa Rosa, immediately next door to [[Santa Rosa]] AT&T station. This same hilltop is also known as Moon Ranch, found on state and PNM radio licenses. I believe I have identified the site and licenses correctly for the photographed site, based on some circumstantial connections made to names and phone numbers on paperwork in the abandoned building. ^ Built | ??? | ^ Builder | Qwest | ^ Callsign | WHO759 | /* ^ ASR | | */ /* ^ Fate | | */ This site had two conical horn antennas, although one has been removed and the mounting ring is lying on the ground nearby. Interestingly, an identical conical horn antenna is mounted to the AT&T [[Santa Rosa]] tower nearby, but I think that's mere coincidence. Paperwork found in the abandoned building shows a most recent date of October 1995, possibly closer to when this went out of use than the 2010 license cancellation. Presumably this was used for connectivity within the Qwest network rather than long lines toll service, connecting through a set of smaller towns in eastern New Mexico. {{wst>location|35.0510097|-104.9432566}} ===== Routes ===== ^ Destination ^ Direction ^ Carrier | | [[Apache Springs Qwest]] | Northwest | ??? | | [[Alcor Qwest]] | East | ??? | ==== License History ==== License WHO759 was issued 1985 and cancelled 2010. ===== Construction ===== The site is a short self-supporting lattice tower next to a prefabricated telecom shelter building. ===== Photos ===== {{gallery>facilities:microwave:colonias_qwest}} {{geotag>lat:35.0510097 lon:-104.9432566}} {{tag>needs-research}}
