This is a hardened above-ground site. The tower is not of the AT&T modular type, perhaps because of it's unusually tall height. It's more of a typical self-supporting lattice tower, with waveguides originally mounted on the sides rather than corners. An "X" shaped catwalk provided access to the feed end of the horns, and a standard square platform at the top held them. There are several catwalks at different levels and a ladder up one corner for access, rather than the stairs seen on shorter AT&T towers.

This must have been a pretty busy tower even when originally built, based on the catwalks, and the building is larger than usual. Considering both of these facts, I suspect that the list of routes here (and in other sources like the Long Lines Google map) is incomplete and this served other connections as well. There are other hints supporting this, such as an (unsourced) claim [[https://groups.io/g/coldwarcomms/topic/53513842#msg2728|in a mailing list]] that Payson was one hop from [[Salt Lake City Junction]].

Unfortunately, the horns are no longer present.
