====== Tucumcari J Repeater ======

Tucumcari is home to a former repeater on the Fourth Transcontinental Telephone Line, which runs from Albuquerque to Amarillo in this area. Some sections of original poles from the open wire line are standing to the west. According to route maps, there was also a K-carrier "branch" that paralleled the J-carrier, starting here and going East until Amarillo, with a "junction" between the J and K carrier at Adrian, TX. I'm not sure why, perhaps for reliability given the windstorms this area is prone to. The K-carrier line required give repeaters within the single J-carrier span.

The repeater is a sturdy brick building with a standing H-frame nearby. A garage building standing nearby appears to be fairly old, although not quite original.
