This site was built at the same time as Granite Pass Microwave Station, part of a project to introduce new microwave routes across southern California for increased capacity to the major cities. These sites also supported AUTOVON.

Granite Pass Microwave Station South TD-2, TH

I haven't been able to find any CF licenses for this site, suggesting it has not been in use for microwave relay since ULS records start.

Kelso Peak is an above-ground hardened concrete structure typical of 1960s microwave sites. It's located on a cleared area on a ridge, with a large apron that would have served as a helicopter landing pad when needed.
